Stephen leaves me in the Visitor’s Center and I just stand here for a few minutes, not sure what to do. I would do homework, but all my books are still in my locker at school. There’s supposed to be a quiz in science class tomorrow. I hope Mr. Marsh will let me get out of it or else I’ll fail. When he looks at my stitched-up face, you’d think he’d understand. But he’s usually uninterested in excuses and seems to take pleasure in failing lazy students like myself. I’ll have to see how it goes tomorrow.
I watch Korean game shows for a while, not sure how Spiderweb could be so interested in them. She must have developed a taste for these programs while she lived in South Korea. I wonder what the other kids thought of her when she lived there. Was she just as much of an outsider? Being a foreigner, I would think so. Or maybe the people can’t tell the difference between a normal foreigner and a weird one, since all foreigners are strange to them. Perhaps she got along better with people there. Perhaps that’s why she watches Korean television shows so much. They might remind her of when she was happier and more accepted.
